Strengthening Partnerships and Strategy in Central Vietnam

Da Nang, 20 May, 2025 | While most consulting firms in Vietnam focus their presence in either Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, Dezan Shira & Associates recognized the reacted to importance of Da Nang early on, establishing an office in the city in 2019. Led by Vy Nguyen, Manager of Corporate Accounting Services, the Da Nang team, though the smallest in size, is steadily growing and plays a key role in supporting clients in Central Vietnam. This month, the office welcomed colleagues from Ho Chi Minh City: Vietnam Country Director Vivie Wei, Assistant Manager Patricia Aranguren Moliner, and Marketing Lead Julia Goeb, who visited to build partnerships and align the firm’s long-term strategy in this increasingly vital innovation hub.

Da Nang’s significance for foreign investors seeking expansion opportunities not only in Vietnam but across the ASEAN region is growing steadily. With advanced infrastructure, a deep-sea port under development, and an impressive portfolio of investment incentives, Da Nang stands out for its forward-looking urban planning and its growing reputation as a center for technology, R&D, and high-tech industries.

As part of the visit, the team met with the Da Nang Investment Promotion Agency (IPA), where both sides discussed potential collaboration. Ms Yen Pham, Deputy Head of Division, highlighted key investment priorities, including the hi-tech industry, semiconductors and AI, the development of a free trade zone, and plans for an international financial center. She elaborated on infrastructure, incentives and future projects, reflecting the city’s commitment to attracting high-value, innovation-driven investment.

The team also met with the Da Nang Specific Economic Zones Authority (DSEZA), with a focus on the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park. DSEZA expressed appreciation for Dezan Shira’s role in bridging international investors with Da Nang’s evolving business ecosystem. The meeting explored opportunities in technology and innovation, incentive policies and infrastructure developments that make the Hi-Tech Park an attractive destination for global firms, with competitive conditions especially compared to more saturated areas in Northern and Southern Vietnam.

Finally, the exchange with Mario Mendis, Chief Delegate for Central Vietnam at the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam and General Manager of Fusion Resort Da Nang gave us the opportunity to understand the dynamics of the international community of the city. A seasoned expert in global luxury hospitality, Mr. Mendis shared his perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of developing local talent, and key projects shaping Da Nang’s future, including the vibrant FPT University town, which is drawing increasing numbers of international students and contributing to the city’s growing reputation as a hub for education and innovation.

Looking ahead, Da Nang is positioning itself to become Vietnam’s first official free trade zone, a development that would significantly enhance its appeal to foreign direct investors. The city’s ambition to integrate high-tech industry, international finance, and modern infrastructure into a streamlined investment environment is a strong signal to companies seeking a competitive base in Southeast Asia. In response, Dezan Shira & Associates is committed to expanding its presence in the city, including developing its own technology, ERP, and IT services out of Da Nang.

With a growing team, a local footprint, and in-depth knowledge of Vietnam’s business environment, Dezan Shira & Associates stands ready to assist companies evaluating Da Nang as a strategic location for expansion. Our experts provide tailored guidance across market entry, legal, accounting, HR, and technology services, ensuring clients can unlock the full potential of one of Vietnam’s most dynamic and promising regions.
