Dezan Shira & Associates partners with the Australia China Emerging Leaders Summit
Dezan Shira & Associates was a supporting partner for the 8th edition of the Australia China Emerging Leaders Summit (ACELS 8) held in Shanghai on the January 24-27, 2019. Dezan Shira’s Australian Desk was actively involved the organization of the summit and gave a keynote speech on the topic of Sino-Australia Business Relationship.
The Summit is the signature initiative of the Australia China Youth Association (ACYA) and a flagship youth engagement project sponsored by the Australia-China Council.
The 4-day-summit, which welcomed 88 delegates and 26 speakers from all over China and Australia was the largest, ever Australia-China Youth Summit to date.
Leading voices from all industries and sectors joined the discussion on important issues relating to Sino-Australian diplomacy, trade & investment, entrepreneurship and the role of soft power in strengthening bilateral ties.
Dezan Shira & Associates Involvement
Dorcas Wong, Editorial & Research Associate at China Briefing was invited to be the Content Director of ACELS 8 by the Australia China Youth Association. She designed the Summit theme (“Restore, Reshape, Reimagine”) and worked closely with the speakers to curate the content of the speaking and networking sessions.
Paul Dwyer, Head of Australian Desk and Director of International Tax and Transfer Pricing was a guest keynote speaker at the Networking Event of the summit, attended by over 150 people. In the speech, Paul shared with the delegates his very own China story, his opinions on the current outlook of Sino-Australia business relations from his work experience, and the importance of bilateral youth engagement.
Many Dezan Shira & Associates staff members were also involved in the networking events of the Summit. Riccardo Bennussi, Deputy Regional Manager of the Shanghai Office, together with Dorcas and Paul also joined the Gala dinner of the Summit.
