Dezan Shira & Associates Shares Strategic Insights on Expanding into ASEAN Supply Chains at CPA Australia Seminar in Shanghai
On June 5, 2025, Dezan Shira & Associates was pleased to participate in a seminar hosted by CPA Australia in Shanghai. During the event, our advisory team shared strategic insights and real-world case studies with over 20 senior professionals from the accounting and legal sectors.
The session facilitated an engaging and timely exchange of views on a range of pressing topics, from the ongoing trade tensions between the United States and China to the broader implications for cross-border operations and the evolving landscape of global trade. Looking ahead, the discussion also addressed key considerations for Chinese companies seeking to expand internationally, with particular attention given to opportunities emerging within ASEAN’s growing supply chain ecosystem.
Jenny Liao, partner of Corporate Accounting Services, opened the presentation with an overview of the current global business environment and its implications for outbound Chinese investment. She highlighted the primary drivers motivating enterprises to “go global,” the critical factors influencing investment cost considerations, and the industries and regions that are currently receiving the most attention and experiencing the greatest impact.
Following this, Victoria Li, from the International Business Advisory team, delivered an in-depth analysis of a central question for many investors: where to invest within the ASEAN region? She began by examining current international trade relationships and went on to provide insights into how global trade patterns may shift in the coming years.
“For Chinese companies exploring ASEAN, as well as for international enterprises already operating in China, strategically expanding into this proximate and rapidly developing region offers significant potential,” Victoria noted. “Many companies are reassessing their supply chains with an eye toward reducing costs, streamlining operations, and boosting competitiveness. In this context, a comprehensive and well-informed strategic evaluation has never been more essential.”
We extend our sincere thanks to CPA Australia for organizing this insightful seminar and for the opportunity to contribute to the dialogue.
