Celebrating International Women’s Day: Women in Tech at Dezan Shira & Associates

To celebrate International Women’s Day 2023 we are embracing the UN Women theme DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality, which honors female champions of advancements in transformative technologies, and digital education around the world including the leaders within our very own Information Systems team.

This year, as we reflect on the theme of UN Women, “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”, we spotlight women working to champion advancements in transformative technology and digital education around the world.

We honor our Information Systems team, who not only provide world-class IT services but also make significant efforts to advance workplace equality. From their messages, we hope to empower and inspire all the women who want to join the tech industry and push for a louder voice of equality in this industry.

Phoebe Yan – Partner

“I have been working in the ERP and corporate applications domain for more than 13 years, following 4 years of study in Software Engineering. For me, constantly learning and finding the technical “cure” for clients, brings me the most joy in what I do.

When facing stereotypical thinking in the workplace, whenever there is an opportunity, I think girls should always step up to show value and demonstrate their amazing capabilities.”

Claire Li – ERP Specialist, Group Information Systems

“To me technology is fascinating. It is also a powerful tool that distinguishes me from my peers in a fiercely competitive job market. We do need more girls to join the tech industry, for a greater voice of equality and for more career opportunities for women in the future.”

Karin Li – Senior Implementation Consultant, Group Information Systems

“Facing gender bias in the industry, you should let your professionalism speak for itself – as long as you continue to improve and contribute to the company, you will become an indispensable employee who is never inferior to your peers.”

Charlotte Yin – ERP Implementation Consultant, Information Systems

“We need to create a welcoming and encouraging environment for girls who want to join the industry. This means providing mentorship, training, and resources for them to succeed. Companies should also strive to create a workplace culture that is diverse and inclusive, and that values the perspectives of all genders.”

Ice Han – ERP Implementation Consultant, Information Systems

“When females reach the top of a predominantly male group, their power can influence other girls, becoming an inspiration for them to work harder, and which creates a virtuous cycle. With this mutual support built up, more girls will have the chance to define themselves and their futures.”

Lisa Li – Assistant Manager, Group Information Systems

“In recent years, we have seen the introduction of more supporting measures for female science and technology talents in China. I hope more girls will strive to play a bigger role in science and technology innovation on this bigger and better platform.”

Happy International Women’s Day to our female colleagues in the Dezan Shira & Associates Family, and to all the inspirational women around the globe!
