Dezan Shira & Associates Shares Practical IP and AI Insights with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Delegations in Shanghai

The China Market Acceleration Program launched in Shanghai with strong momentum, as delegations from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan commenced an intensive, on-the-ground immersion into China’s operating environment. Organized by Khan Tengri Innovation Hub and Most Business Intelligence, with support from the Almaty City Digitalization Department, the program moved swiftly beyond formalities to deliver practical, market-focused insights from the outset.

On April 24, Dezan Shira & Associates delivered a focused session on intellectual property (IP) protection, patenting strategies, and safeguarding AI products in China. The session was led by Kathy Wang, Assistant Manager of Business Advisory Services, Chenchen Liu, Manager of Business Advisory Services, and Viktor Rojkov, Manager of International Business Advisory Services. The session brought together founders and senior executives from the technology, IT, logistics, and trade sectors who are preparing for China market entry.

The message was clear. A company that enters China without IP protection leaves their business exposed to rapid replication, whereas a well-structured protection strategy is both practical and enforceable. The delegation also heard from Lyazzat Borankulova, who described China as a distinct operating environment with its own rules. This perspective was reinforced during a visit to ByteDance’s AI Solution Center, where participants observed firsthand the scale, speed, and sophistication of China’s innovation ecosystem and accelerator landscape.

Discussions throughout the program centered on what actually works in China today, from reading market signals to understanding why standard go-to-market models often fall short. A recurring theme was that localization in China goes far beyond translation. It requires rebuilding the product for a trust based, relationship-driven business environment.

Continuing the Exchange

We appreciate the thoughtful discussions and the new relationships formed throughout the program. These exchanges are instrumental in helping foreign founders build sustainable, long-term strategies for China.

Dezan Shira & Associates continues to support companies entering or expanding in China across market entry, corporate establishment, cross-border tax, trading contracts, dispute resolution, IP registration, business matchmaking, and professional employment services.

For tailored support, founders are welcome to reach out to Viktor Rojkov, Manager of International Business Advisory, at Shanghai@dezshira.com.
