On Tuesday, December 16, Dan Martin, International Business Advisor at Dezan Shira & Associates in Hanoi, participated in a student engagement session organized by AmCham Hanoi, welcoming a delegation of students from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business.

The session focused on living and working in Vietnam, the current business environment, and career considerations for young professionals pursuing international pathways. Dan joined Matt Kantrud, General Director of Polaris Vietnam, and Olivier Marquette, President of AES Vietnam, offering students practical perspectives drawn from their leadership experience in Vietnam.

Discussions covered Vietnam’s evolving economic landscape, the realities of professional life in an emerging market, and the importance of early international exposure, adaptability, and long-term engagement in the region.

Reflecting on the session, Dan commented: “Speaking with the students was a reminder of how early international exposure can shape a career. It brought me back to my own first experience in Asia, which began with a study abroad trip to Taipei. We discussed what it’s really like to live and work in Vietnam, how the business environment is changing, and what young professionals should think about as they start building experience in the region.”

Dezan Shira & Associates regularly supports student delegations through expert participation in educational programs, contributing to knowledge sharing, talent development, and engagement with the next generation of globally minded professionals interested in Vietnam and wider Asia.
