Special Coverage: Mr. Ankur Munjal’s Visit to East China Highlights Key Opportunities for China-Based Manufacturers and Exporters Eyeing India
In July 2025, we were honored to welcome our India Country Director, Mr. Ankur Munjal, to our East China offices for a targeted visit aimed at supporting manufacturers and exporters operating in China as they explore the growing opportunities in the Indian market. On July 10, Ankur led an in-depth seminar, followed by a Mandarin-language webinar on July 11—both designed to offer practical insights and guidance on navigating India’s complex business environment.
For many companies based in China, whether domestic or international, India presents significant growth potential alongside important challenges. Evolving regulations—particularly the upcoming changes to India’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification system, which affects hundreds of product categories—and regional differences in operating costs and infrastructure all require careful planning.
At the July 10 seminar in Suzhou, titled “Unlocking India’s Manufacturing Potential: Strategic Guide for Global and China-Based Businesses,” Ankur shared his knowledge of India’s competitive strengths, including its young workforce, improving infrastructure, and government incentives. He emphasized that success in India requires more than investment alone; it calls for a clear understanding of local market dynamics and regulatory requirements. The seminar’s Q&A session allowed attendees to raise questions and hear Ankur’s perspectives directly.
On July 11, our International Business Advisor, Ms. Victoria Li, presented a webinar titled “India 2025 BIS Certification Reforms: Supporting Compliance and Market Expansion for Chinese Exporters.” Victoria carefully explained the upcoming certification reforms and outlined practical steps exporters can take to prepare, helping to minimize risks associated with delays and compliance challenges. Her clear guidance provided attendees with a helpful roadmap to navigate these changes.
During the webinar, Ankur joined as a special guest to respond to audience questions, offering additional context on how regulatory reforms fit within India’s broader economic policies. He was supported by our colleague, Ms. Naina Bhardwaj, who assisted with detailed inquiries on compliance and market entry strategies. Together, they provided valuable insights to help participants better understand and address the challenges and opportunities presented by India.
Reflecting on the visit, Ankur noted, “Our aim is to support companies operating in China as they explore the significant potential India offers. Success depends on combining strategic insight with careful preparation and local understanding.” Victoria added, “The BIS reforms are complex and evolving. Those who prepare early will be better positioned to navigate these changes smoothly.”
