Connecting Canada to Singapore’s Maritime Future: Dezan Shira & Associates Supports Canadian Delegation During Singapore Maritime Week 2025
Dezan Shira & Associates was proud to support the High Commission of Canada in Singapore and the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service (TCS) with business matchmaking services during this year’s Singapore Maritime Week (SMW)—Asia’s premier maritime industry gathering.
Held annually, SMW brings together global maritime leaders, government agencies, and tech innovators to explore the future of shipping, ocean sustainability, and marine innovation. In 2025, it served as the perfect backdrop for introducing Canada’s ocean technology sector—a global leader in sonar systems, AI-powered ROVs, sustainable marine coatings, and more—to key players in Singapore’s maritime ecosystem.
Our team at Dezan Shira & Associates worked closely with the Trade Commissioner Service to ensure meaningful B2B connections for Canadian companies looking to expand their footprint in Southeast Asia.
From tech-forward startups like Open Ocean Robotics, to established innovators like Gastops and GIT, Amanda Lam, Strategy Consultant at Dezan Shira & Associates in Singapore, led the execution of the matchmaking program, facilitating targeted introductions between Canadian innovators and stakeholders in Singapore’s maritime sector—ranging from port operators to shipbuilders and research institutions.
“We were honored to work with the Canadian High Commission and TCS on this initiative,” said David Stepat, Country Director Singapore at Dezan Shira & Associates. “This collaboration reflects how strategic facilitation—done right—can accelerate global innovation partnerships and bridge industries across borders.”
The delegation visit showcased the best of Canadian capabilities—from PFAS-free marine bearings to modular subsea robotics—and opened doors for long-term partnerships in technology, trade, and sustainability.
As maritime nations navigate a future shaped by decarbonization, digitalization, and rising demand for resilient infrastructure, Canada and Singapore are natural allies in driving innovation at sea.
Dezan Shira & Associates remains committed to supporting foreign delegations, trade agencies, and innovation-focused organizations in forging lasting connections across Asia’s dynamic economies.
We thank the High Commission of Canada, the Trade Commissioner Service, and all participating companies for their trust in our team—and look forward to seeing these new partnerships thrive.
