Marco Förster and Jennifer Halim Attend the B20 Summit in Bali as Delegates on Behalf of Dezan Shira & Associates

We are pleased to announce that two of our Managers, Marco Förster (Head of ASEAN Advisory) and Jennifer Halim (International Business Advisory Assistant Manager, Jakarta Office), had the opportunity to join the Business 20 (B20) Summit in Bali, Indonesia as delegates.

Throughout the event, Marco and Jennifer represented Dezan Shira & Associates and its one-stop-shop approach to providing clients with a combination of legal, tax, HR, and accounting services in Asia, which is essential for businesses to remain competitive in today’s challenging and ever-evolving global economy.

After the summit, Marco shared his insights:

“Indonesia is the only Southeast Asian country that is a member of the G20, allowing it to act as a bridge between ASEAN and the other 19 G20 members. Indonesia has been able to represent the region throughout the G20 summit, highlighting ASEAN as an attractive investment destination. The country has also been able to use its position to point out the challenges facing developing economies, such as the need for better education, increased access to healthcare, and improved infrastructure. Furthermore, Indonesia has been an advocate for the inclusion of environmental considerations within the G20 agenda. This has been especially important in light of the effects of climate change and the need to promote sustainable development. Indonesia’s efforts have been successful in showing the other members of the G20 the potential of investing in ASEAN, as many sideline deals and new FDI projects have been announced during the summit.”

The B20, being a prominent sideline event of the G20 Summit, is a high-level gathering of world leaders and representatives from the global business community, which serves as an opportunity to discuss the pressing issues and challenges facing the global economy today. This summit is expected to have a major impact on the global economy and could potentially guide nations regarding economic policies and strategies. It is also expected to focus on issues such as digital transformation, which could bring about innovative changes in the way people interact, do business, and find solutions to issues. This year’s Summit featured leaders and speakers such as Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol. The B20 2022 was focused on the importance of sustainable development, digital transformation, and the importance of human talent and innovation in driving global economic growth.

Overall, the B20 Summit was a successful event for both Marco Förster and Jennifer Halim, who were able to highlight Dezan Shira & Associates’ commitment to helping clients from G20 clients and beyond succeed in ASEAN in the future.

They look forward to representing the firm in future engagements at international events and lead our ASEAN operations with steady improvement of our clients’ operations in the region.
