Maria Kotova Presents at Global Business Expo 2019 in Leeds, England

On 12 September 2019, our Head of UK & Ireland Business Development, Maria Kotova, presented on ‘Emerging Asia Opportunities for UK Businesses’ during the Global Business Expo 2019 event held at Cloth Hall Court, Leeds.

A large consumer population, fast developing economies, availability of diversified resources, improving infrastructure, and the growing digital landscape, among many other factors, make China, India, and ASEAN strategically important partners for UK businesses.

Investment Opportunities in Emerging Asia

During the event, Maria discussed the emerging Asian economies and potential investment opportunities in these markets for foreign companies.

China is one of the UK’s largest trading partners. As per the UK government, the trade in goods and services between UK and China has more than doubled from £32 billion to a record £69 billion, with investment between the two countries having almost trebled since the first Economic and Financial Dialogue (EFD) in 2008.

Further, Maria discussed the China plus one strategy wherein companies either relocate their base to another country or set up facilities at one more location such as in India or ASEAN. Maria described the top emerging markets to watch out for and the improving ease of doing business parameters in these countries.

The presentation ended with a comparative analysis of emerging economies and our best investment bets for foreign investors.
