Riccardo Benussi Discusses India’s New Medical Device Rules

On September 19 2018, Riccardo Benussi, Deputy Regional Manager at Dezan Shira & Associates, discussed the new Medical Device Rules of India via a webinar hosted by German Trade and Invest (GTAI).

Historically, the Indian medical device industry has been largely unregulated, with regulations tending to only focus on certain types of medical devices.

The Medical Device Rules, 2017, which came into effect on January 1 2018, will assist in standardizing the previously unregulated medical devices sector.

Further, Riccardo briefed the attendees about the licensing process for importing medical devices into India and the expected timelines for obtaining import and manufacturing licenses.
