Foreign Manufacturers Forum: Euro Depreciation and How It Effects Manufacturing Industry

Shenzhen, China | March 25, 2015

The exchange rate between Euro and RMB sank to a twelve-year low in 2015, triggering a storm on the land of European business in China, especially the manufacturing sector. On one hand, manufacturers are facing challenges in labor shortage, material cost increase and export value fall, while on the other hand, the golden time for expanding emerging market and importing expensive machineries and components has arrived. The key to remain in a competitive position and seize the opportunity in the bearish market is to study the trends of currency and better understand the challenges and opportunities it brings.

In this event, the attendees will first be introduced to the past and current occurrence of Euro devaluation and its impact by Mr. Fabian Knopf and then Mr. Martin Kroboth will present the threats and opportunities that manufacturers are facing with the example of his company Andritz which has been operating in China since 2002 and is the supplier of plants and services for the hydropower, pulp and paper, metals, and other specialized industries. Our Q&A session will allow for further in-depth discussion.
