Senior Associate, International Business Advisory

Position Overview:

As the Senior Associate, International Business Advisory (IBA), you will be the primary representative of Dezan Shira & Associates in Malaysia. This role is pivotal in driving business development activities, establishing local partnerships, and supporting multi-jurisdictional clients in their market entry and operational needs in Malaysia.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development:

  • Lead and execute business development strategies to expand the firm’s presence in Malaysia.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with multinational clients seeking market entry into Malaysia.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including potential clients, industry associations, and government bodies.

Client Advisory:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to multinational clients on their market entry strategies and ongoing business operations in Malaysia.
  • Provide, in collaboration with local partners, strategic advice on legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory compliance matters specific to the Malaysian market.

Partnership Development:

  • Evaluate and establish strategic partnerships with local service providers, consultants, and industry experts to enhance service offerings and market reach.
  • Negotiate partnership agreements and manage ongoing relationships to support client needs effectively.

Market Intelligence and Thought Leadership:

  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and economic developments impacting clients in Malaysia.
  • Contribute to thought leadership initiatives through writing articles, conducting seminars, and participating in industry events to enhance the firm’s visibility and credibility.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law, Accounting, or related fields. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA, MBA) preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in business advisory, consulting, or professional services, with a strong focus on Malaysia and ASEAN markets.
  • Proven track record in business development, client relationship management, and project execution in a multicultural environment.
  • Strong understanding of Malaysian business practices, regulatory framework, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia, English, and Mandarin Chinese
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic organization.
