On early February 2026, Patricia Aranguren, Assistant Manager in the International Business Advisory team at Dezan Shira & Associates’ Europe Desk, visited Paris representing the firm in a series of engagements focused on Europe–ASEAN trade and investment cooperation.

As part of her visit, Patricia attended Bercy France Export, held on February 3–4, 2026, within the framework of France’s Export Week 2026. Considered one of France’s flagship public-sector events dedicated to export policy and financing, the conference is organised by the Direction générale du Trésor and hosted at the Centre de conférences Pierre Mendès France. The event brings together public- and private-sector stakeholders involved in export financing, trade promotion, and international investment.

During the event, Patricia had the opportunity to meet with the economic representative responsible for Vietnam affairs, to discuss current market conditions and investment trends, with a focus on opportunities for European companies expanding into Southeast Asia and the role of institutional dialogue in supporting cross-border trade and investment.

In parallel with her participation at Bercy France Export, Patricia also met with representatives of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) during her visit to the French capital. The meeting followed the recent expansion of MATRADE’s Paris presence into a full Trade Commissioner Office, supporting Malaysia’s trade and investment engagement with France, Spain, Portugal and Monaco.

The exchange centred on Europe–ASEAN trade dynamics, Malaysia’s industrial and export priorities, and sectors of increasing relevance to European businesses, including advanced manufacturing, electronics, and sustainability-driven industries. These discussions were closely aligned with findings from the firm’s Asia Manufacturing Index 2026, in which Malaysia ranked second globally, following China, highlighting the country’s competitiveness as a leading regional manufacturing and export hub. Building on this, the conversation also drew attention to the firm’s Doing Business in Malaysia portal, underscoring its role as a practical resource for global and European companies assessing market entry, regulatory frameworks, and investment opportunities in Malaysia.

Reflecting on her visit, she highlighted: “This visit to Paris provided a valuable opportunity to engage with France’s trade institutions and ASEAN partners. These exchanges reinforced France’s central role in Europe’s export landscape and highlighted how Dezan Shira & Associates supports European companies as they explore opportunities and build long-term partnerships across ASEAN.”
