Dezan Shira & Associates Meets with New Zealand Consulate-General in Guangzhou to Deepen Bilateral Cooperation
On May 7, 2025, Dezan Shira & Associates had the pleasure of joining a working lunch hosted by the New Zealand Consulate-General in Guangzhou. The meeting was held on the occasion of a visit by Ms. Sam Hoskins, lead adviser for Trade and Economic Affairs at New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), and served as an opportunity to strengthen the longstanding relationship between Dezan Shira & Associates and the New Zealand diplomatic and trade community.
Representing Dezan Shira & Associates at the invitation of the New Zealand Consulate-General were Managing Partner Mr. Alberto Vettoretti and International Business Advisory Manager Mr. Radomir Tomovic. They were joined by Mr. Michael Zhang, the newly appointed New Zealand Consul-General in Guangzhou; Mr. Pete Frost, trade commissioner at New Zealand Trade and Enterprise; Ms. Sam Hoskins from MFAT; and Ms. Serena Zeng, policy adviser at the Consulate-General.
During the exchange, both sides discussed the key challenges currently facing foreign investors in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and China more broadly. Alberto and Radomir shared insights from the company’s on-the-ground experience advising New Zealand and other international businesses in navigating regulatory, operational, and cultural complexities in the region.
The conversation also explored upcoming opportunities in emerging sectors, the evolving role of Hong Kong within the GBA, and recent policy developments impacting foreign investment and trade.
Dezan Shira & Associates looks forward to continued cooperation with the Consulate-General and contributing further to New Zealand’s trade engagement in the region.
