The discussion focused on strengthening bilateral trade relations between India and Chile, with particular emphasis on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). The meeting also reflected on the momentum generated by the maiden visit of Chilean President Gabriel Boric to India on March 27, 2025, underscoring the growing strategic and economic ties between the two nations.

During this insightful interaction, the Dezan Shira & Associates team outlined key areas of interest for Chilean firms in India, including agriculture, green energy, defense, pharmaceuticals, and mining. Adding to the conversation, Ambassador Angulo underscored the strategic value of India’s expanding consumer market, especially for Chilean wine and processed food exports.

The dialogue addressed India’s clean energy transition, where Chile’s position as the world’s leading lithium producer presents a compelling synergy. From DSA India, Ankur remarked, “The CEPA discussions represent a timely and strategic opportunity to strengthen India–Chile economic cooperation. With India’s focus on electric mobility and Chile’s mineral capabilities, there is significant potential for integrated EV battery value chains.”

Ambassador H.E. Juan Angulo also expressed confidence in the future of bilateral relations, noting, “India’s position as a global trade player opens doors for deeper engagement across services like technology, finance, consulting, and regional frameworks like the Pacific Alliance, which can support Chilean firms entering the Indian market.”
