Dezan Shira & Associates Repositions Key China Personnel

Dezan Shira & Associates has reshuffled their senior management team, moving three key personnel from China to other locations throughout Asia.

Olaf Griese, previously regional partner in Shanghai, has relocated to Delhi, India as partner of the firm’s India practice. Griese has been with the practice since 2006 and is a graduate of the Institute of Political Science, Paris. His role in Delhi is essentially one as country manager where he will be responsible for developing the firm’s presence in the Indian market. The firm provides corporate establishment, business and tax advisory services, in addition to on-going accounting and compliance matters for foreign investors in India. The firm currently has five offices in the country. To contact Olaf, please E-mail him at olaf.griese@dezshira.com.

Rosario DiMaggio, currently business advisory manager in Guangzhou, is relocating to the firm’s Hanoi office in Vietnam. Rosario also joined Dezan Shira & Associates in 2006, and will be overseeing business development and managerial issues in Hanoi. The firm also has offices in Ho Chi Minh City. Rosario’s position in Hanoi will be temporary, and he will move on to Shanghai from September. To contact Rosario, please E-mail him at rosario.dimaggio@dezshira.com.

Chris Devonshire-Ellis, the firm’s founding partner, will be leaving China after 25 years in the country. He established the firm in 1992 in Shenzhen, and has been based in Beijing since 2005. He is relocating to the firm’s Singapore office and will be responsible for developing the Asian regional markets for the firm. To contact Chris, please E-mail him at chris@dezshira.com.

“The practice is well-established in China and has a first class presence and infrastructure there,” Devonshire-Ellis comments. “Growth in China remains strong, however we are increasing at faster rates throughout Asia. Our India revenues grew by 62 percent in 2011, and we have repositioned key personnel accordingly to fast track our India development and client base to provide us with more depth and prepare us more thoroughly for the increasing demand of our Indian services.”

“ASEAN is also developing fast, and with Singapore being the financial and managerial hub for the region, I have decided to relocate there to spearhead our development further into Asia,” Devonshire-Ellis added. “Singapore itself is a sizable market for international businesses with Asian headquarters, while the practice is also interested in developing further into Asia. Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia and Bangladesh are all of interest right now, and Myanmar may also rapidly develop. We see huge potential for growth in Asia, and the strengthening of our operations in Singapore, Vietnam, and India will help us to cement our already strong regional footprint and desire to become a truly pan-Asian practice.”
