Dezan Shira & Associates Shanghai Office Hosts German Delegation Exploring Chinese Investment Opportunities

Dezan Shira & Associates’ Shanghai Office recently had the pleasure of hosting a distinguished delegation from Germany. Their visit underscored a genuine eagerness to explore new investment opportunities within China’s dynamic market. We were pleased to speak to representatives once again from various German startups, after their last visit in September.  

Key dialogues involved a mentee and Vivian Mao, Partner of Dezan Shira & Associates, and a mentor in the German Accelerator China program. The interaction was facilitated by the German Accelerator, and focused on the essential aspects of conducting business in China. 

The event commenced with a cordial welcome from Vivian and comments from Simon Laube, Assistant Manager from our International Business Advisory Services team, and member of the German Desk.  

Together, they led the delegation through an insightful conversation, addressing critical investment considerations, such as China’s economic structure, business confidence, and the unique challenges faced by foreign startups in building robust relationships with Chinese business partners.  

Throughout the session, Dezan Shira & Associates emphasized the importance of precise contractual specifications in line with diverse business goals. We underscored the need to effectively manage the expectations of all involved parties, ranging from transactional relationships to joint venture partnerships.
