BIO

Maizorig Janchivdorj has 18 years of experience in the public and private sectors in Mongolia, and he is one of the founding partners of MDS and KhanLex LLP which represents Dezan Shira & Associates in Mongolia as part of the Dezan Shira Asian Alliance.

He advises clients on various transactions involving project financing, M&A and corporate matters. He heads PPP/Project finance, Infrastructure and Litigation practices of the firm.  

Before starting his private practice, he spent much of his career with the Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs of Mongolia. He worked for the Ministry as a specialist, senior specialist and Deputy Director of the Legal Policy Department. Mr. Maizorig was charged with drafting and helping to formulate the legal policy supporting several major economic laws of Mongolia, including the Law on Concession, Mortgage law, Mortgage backed securities law and draft Law on Secured Transactions. His previous experience and familiarity of decision-making process at public sector brings much value to the firm and the clients when dealing with Government related transaction and projects.

Further, Mr. Maizorig has provided legal advisory services to the nation-wide mega project sponsors and in 2015, he co-authored the first Financing Project in partnership with the internationally renowned Sidlay Austin law firm.

He has been rated as a leading lawyer by the AsiaLaw Profiles, the prominent publisher in its 2016 publication, being quoted as “Responsive, experienced and reliable lawyer”. Additionally, a leading legal publisher “The Legal 500” referred to him as the lawyer who “provides good advice in tricky issues” and ranked him as one of the leading individuals in Mongolia.
