Bob Savic

BIO

Bob Savic provides tax and legal services for multinational and small-medium sized British businesses operating in China, Southeast Asia, Russia, and Central Asia. Based in London his principal focus is on supporting UK and European based businesses in entering the Asian market. In this context, he liaises between UK based businesses and Dezan Shira & Associates support staff in Asia. Bob writes regularly for China Briefing, Silk Road Briefing, ASEAN Briefing and others on cross-border trade and investment matters, in addition to contributing to the firm’s latest Belt & Road Initiative Business Guide.

Prior to his role with Dezan Shira, Bob has advised on cross border tax structuring for over 30 years on behalf of professional services firms including Deloitte China, Ernst & Young Singapore, Horwath Hong Kong, PWC CIS and KPMG Russia. He has also worked on numerous international agency projects such as with the World Bank in the development of China’s international accounting standards in 1992 and on various Eurasian infrastructure programs funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and European Investment Bank. His principal industry sector coverage includes renewable and hydrocarbon energy, large-scale retailing, office and commercial property development, high-tech and automotive manufacturing, business logistics and infrastructure construction.

Bob is also a regular columnist with international media including the South China Morning Post and an academic with the UK’s University of Nottingham’s Asia Research Institute specializing in international relations and politics.
