Which regional economic blocs does India hold Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with, and which is the most significant in terms of India?s overall foreign trade?

Posted On February 2015

India has concluded Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with the 10 member states of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), an 8 member regional bloc with which India helped negotiate the South Asia Free Trade Area (SAFTA) in 2006. While India is currently negotiating FTAs with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and European Union (EU), SAARC remains India’s most important regional trading partner in terms of overall foreign trade.
