What goods would require license in India?

Posted On November 2013

The goods that require licensing under Indian law can be found in Indian Trading Classification, wich is based on a Harmonised Code (ITC(HS)). There are two "Schedules": Schedule I deals with import policies, which is subsectioned into 21 sections, with 98 chapters thereunder and Schedule II deals with export policies, which is divided into 97 chapters. Director General of Foreign Trade maintains an up-to-date database for ITC(HS).

To obtain such license, applications should be made to the Director General of Foreign Trade, then, the Export Licensing Committee thereunder will consider your application.
