Does the Shanghai Free Trade Zone (FTZ) contain tax and custom policies to facilitate the shipping industry?

Posted On May 2014

The Shanghai FTZ contains tax and customs policies to facilitate the shipping industry. Shipments from overseas may be delivered to the Zone first and filed for entry later, and the customs filing procedures for goods imported into the Zone will be greatly simplified. Moreover, enterprises in the Zone may decide on the timing of the inspection before their goods are transferred outside the Zone.

The importing of machines, equipment and other goods by manufacturers and manufacturing service enterprises in the Shanghai FTZ are entitled to tax exemptions. However, goods produced and processed by enterprises established in the Shanghai FTZ and sold to the domestic market are still subject to import value-added and consumption taxes.
