On November 20th 2018, Singapore’s Parliament passed the new Employability Act (EA) bill which came into effect April 1st, 2019.

The main purpose of the Act is to extend Singapore’s current employment law to a bigger share of the workers, particularly employees with managerial and executive functions. Amongst other things, the new bill will:

  • Extend basic provisions and extra protections to more employees;
  • Offer improved flexibility to workers and employers;
  • Change dispute resolutions between employers and employees.

Our Singapore manager, Richelle Tay, held a webinar on the regulation change. Here are her presentation slides.
