China’s Personal Information Protection Law - What to Know and How to Prepare

China’s historic Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) took effect on November 1, 2021. The PIPL is a significant first for the country and is expected to have profound impacts on both local and foreign invested companies doing business in and with China.

Likely to be strictly implemented, many companies are already voicing concerns about coming into compliance with the new regulations.

To help companies better prepare, Thomas Zhang, IT Director, will introduce the PIPL and explain several key considerations to take to build a roadmap for compliance. Detailed actions from both a technical and organization perspective will be discussed as well.

Key Topics:

  • Birds eye overview of China’s IT compliance related laws & regulations
  • Key considerations for complying with the PIPL, including sensitive personal information, cross-border data transfer, impact to IT infrastructure, DPIA (data privacy impact assessment), methodology for compliance
  • Technical and organization control measures for compliance
