Riccardo Benussi is a Partner at Dezan Shira & Associates, based in Munich, Germany. He is the primary point of contact for our European clients and partners and works locally with partner firms and associations to expand and maintain European Small Medium Enterprises' into Asia.
Before taking on this role, Riccardo was based in Shanghai for over six years and managed the International Business Advisory team for Shanghai, Suzhou, and Ningbo. His areas of expertise include setting up of foreign invested enterprises and representative offices, market access strategies in Asia, global staffing, and intellectual property protection. His industry experience includes manufacturing, technology, and food & beverage.
Riccardo heads the Italian, German and Spanish Desks - designing initiatives in Europe and coordinating with members of those relevant countries in our Asia offices.
Prior to joining Dezan Shira & Associates, Riccardo worked on the IP team at a Chinese IP law firms after gaining experience at an Italian-based IP firm.
Riccardo was previously a post-graduate fellow with the Italian Trade Agency based in Rome and Shanghai on the subject of internationalization of SMEs and IP. Riccardo holds a bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Bologna, spcialized in private comparative law in Strasbourg and EU law in Vienna. He wrote his dissertation on well-known trademarks protection in China and later supported the East Asian Law department of the Uni Bologna. Riccardo speaks Italian, English, German, Spanish and is proficient in Chinese.
