One of the major challenges confronting both Russian and UK businesses is sustainability. To many, Russia is a country synonymous with gas, oil and coal - fossil fuels which are some of Russia’s most valuable exports. The increasing demand for a cleaner energy sector presents enormous opportunities for renewable energy and technology companies alike. Cooperation in these areas is rich in potential and is the focus of this panel.
11.30 – Coffee Break
11.50 – Lightning Talk and Q&A
12.10 – Panel Discussion 2, Q&A: Russo-British Technological Development: Opportunities for Cooperation
Although Russia’s energy sector has long anchored its economy, Russia’s development goals show an increasing emphasis on its tech and digital industries. Russia has the largest number of internet users in Europe and Russia is set to become a “fast follower” 5G nation on the global stage, with 5G networks forecast to provide coverage to more than 80 per cent of the country’s population by 2025. With investment from government into programmes to promote university research and development and increased funding for Russian tech start-ups, the opportunities this presents will be the focus of this second panel.
13.10 – Closing Address
13.20 – Networking Lunch
15.00 – Business Forum closes
