Requirements

Educational background and technical knowledge

  • Bachelor degree or higher;
  • At least two- or three-years’ work in the field of account management, consulting or substantially structured internship experience in the field of professional services;
  • Basics or deep legal, accounting and tax knowledge (local or international);
  • Knowledge related to international trade and foreign direct investment (FDI);
  • Awareness and considerable interest in Chinese legal, tax, and financial matters is highly desirable.

Language abilities

  • Excellent spoken and written English and comfortable in presentations;
  • Business-level Chinese language reading and speaking skills is a plus;
  • Based on relevance for our business, a strong professional command of an additional language is a plus.

Key responsibilities:

Project and Account Management

  • Research and stay abreast of China’s foreign direct investment, legal, tax, and accounting regulations and be prepared to discuss the application of such research to the client’s situation;
  • Through internal discussions and project coordination, work with colleagues to finally deliver services to leads/clients;
  • Assist in coordinating deliverables and managing client relationships;
  • Systematically communicate with clients about their needs and assist in flagging problems, finding opportunities (cross-selling) and/or assist in reaching a desired outcome, where possible;
  • Further develop and implement practical strategies in coordination with foreign speaking colleagues, partners, clients, the local business community and abroad;
  • Systematically use the in-house CRM as needed by the firm’s directives;

Business Development

  • Meet independently or as a team with existing or potential clients to introduce DSA’s services, professionally scope needs, and be prepared to guide on preliminary advisory on strategic business legal, tax, accounting and IT solutions;
  • Prepare, deliver and archive service proposals and legal contracts and follow up with potential or existing clients to conclude agreements for the provision of services;
  • Serve as a representative of Dezan Shira at business and community events;
  • Expand Dezan Shira’s client base and consolidate its partnerships basis locally and internationally as needed;
  • Stress-test, conceive of and develop existing or new services together with colleagues from same and/or other departments.

Public Relations and Communication

  • Develop articles and deliver presentations on matters of foreign investment in China and South East Asia independently or with teams from the firm;
  • Coordinate and develop relationships with local and international professional firms and organizations to further promote Dezan Shira’s services to increase its and Asia Briefing’s exposure (among others, brand, publications, websites and social media channels);
  • Contribute to and/or oversee Asia Briefing publications and websites in coordination with various foreign speaking colleagues and partnerships;
  • Travel locally and internationally to attend and or conduct events or seminars to promote the firm’s services, develop and maintain relationships with international/local professional firms and networks for the purpose of business referrals.
