Prepping Businesses for China’s New Foreign Investment Law

With China’s new Foreign Investment Law (FIL) at the forefront of many investors’ China strategies, Dezan Shira & Associates has been working to help businesses improve their understanding of the new law and prepare themselves for when the changes are implemented.

Seminars on the New Foreign Investment Law

We recently co-hosted two seminars in Beijing and Shanghai with the Australian Chamber of Commerce on the topic.

On September 19 2019, Ines Liu, Assistant Manager of Business Advisory, presented on the Foreign Investment Law in Beijing. The following week Allan Xu and Chenchen Liu from our Business Advisory Services team spoke with investors in Shanghai.

At both seminars, delegates were provided an in-depth interpretation of the legislative background of FDI in China, covering the 3 existing foreign direct investment laws (WFOE Law, EJV Law, and CJV Law).

To follow, the team highlighted key changes under the new FIL that foreign invested entities need to be aware of, analyzing the potential effects of the new law on businesses. Finally, pending issues of the FIL were discussed, with important aspects of the law investors need to keep an eye out for.

Future Foreign Investment Law Events

If you weren’t able to join us for these two seminars, don’t worry!  We have multiple upcoming Foreign Investment Law events for you, including a webinar for those not in China.
