Chris Devonshire-Ellis and Maria Kotova attend Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia
Expanding Cooperation in Asia-Pacific
The event, now in its fifth year, took place from September 4 to September 6, 2019, with the aim of expanding international cooperation in Asia-Pacific and supporting the economic development of Russian Far East.
The plenary session on September 5 featured President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, President of Mongolia, Khaltmaagiin Battulga, Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahathir Mohamad, and Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe.
EEF hosted over hundred panel discussions, roundtables, and business breakfasts to address the most relevant topics on international and regional agendas.
Vladivostok to Play Increasingly Important Role
8,500 plus delegates, exhibition participants, and media representatives attended the event from Russia and 65 countries and territories across the world. Over 440 companies participated at the executive level and 270 agreements worth RUB 3.4 trillion were signed at the forum this year.
“Market researchers and businesses involved in trade development throughout China, Japan, South Korea, the ASEAN nations and India should all be looking at the new arrival of Vladivostok as a major, North-East Asian gateway, both to the easier North-East Asian access it provides , but also the potential for developing trade with Russia, where the Chinese and Russian governments have both committed to doubling trade volume to US$200 billion in the next five years. That is a 20% growth rate per annum – and Vladivostok will be a major facilitator in this”, says Chris Devonshire-Ellis.
This event provided a wonderful opportunity for Dezan Shira & Associates to network with executives from some of the top regional and international firms as well as gain insights into important developments taking place in the North-East Asia region.
