Spotlight with Lorena Miera Ruiz, Head of the Spanish Desk

We sit down with Lorena Miera Ruiz, Senior Associate on our International Business Advisory team and Head of the Spanish Desk, as she introduces us to what the Spanish Desk is and how it helps Spanish and Latin American companies operate and succeed in the Asian market.

What is Dezan Shira’s Spanish Desk and what does it do for Spanish speaking clients?

Since its establishment in 1992, Dezan Shira & Associates has grown into one of the most versatile full-service consultancies in Asia. To help bridge the language and cultural differences that our clients often face, we created special advisory teams comprised of industry professionals who speak the local language and share the same cultural backgrounds. The Spanish Desk is one of these teams.

The Spanish Desk supports foreign investors from Latin America and Spain in setting up and developing their projects in Asia. Most of our clients are SMEs and hidden champions supporting big brands, while other clients develop, produce and deliver niche products or services for specific B2B industries.

Outside of Asia, the Spanish Desk is also active overseas. We regularly participate in international Spanish and Latin American conferences and cooperate with private firms in the LATAM region and Spain. By doing so we are able to share and gain valuable insights on country-specific regulations and bilateral agreements, while expanding our professional network to render more comprehensive and better services to our clients.

Does the Spanish Desk produce any materials that investors can use to support their businesses in Asia?
