Why Search for the Oxus River Source?

Over the last 200 years, at least four different sources have been proposed by a variety of well-equipped and experienced explorers.

Still open to debate, the Oxford Expedition hopes to do what no expedition group has done before, and unequivocally expose the real source of the river once and for all. Patrons of the mission are Sir Ralph Fiennes and the Marquis of Salisbury.
