What is India's "Smart Cities Mission?"

Posted On December 2016

The Indian government expects that by 2030, 40% of its population will live in urban areas, and will contribute 75% of the nation’s GDP.  The “Smart Cities Mission,” is a plan created by the government in an effort to drive India’s economic growth and improve the quality of life of its citizens.  The plan encourages development and looks to implement technology into the infrastructure of Indian cities.  Core development for smart cities will focus on areas such as solid waste management, adequate water supply, IT connectivity, and efficient urban mobility.
