On November 13, 2016, Thibaut Minot, Associate, International Business Advisory at Dezan Shira & Associates, was invited to deliver a speech to a Belgian delegation of architects visiting Shanghai. The speech was delivered at Shanghai Tower – the tallest green building in the world (LEED Platinum certified). Several high-profile guests were in attendance, including Madame La Ministre Cécile Jodogne, Secretary of State for the Brussels-Capital Region and Minister of the French Community Commission.
In the speech, Thibaut expounded on the opportunities that await foreign architects in China’s construction sector, as well as market entry strategies and options for architects seeking to establish a presence in China. In addition, he also spoke about green buildings in China and the particular appeal of such projects for Belgian architectural firms. Thibaut’s presentation shed light both on the general drivers of demand for architecture service in China, and the concrete strategies available to foreign architects wanting to do business in China.
