Adam Livermore Hiring Firing Event AustCham Dezan ShiraAdam Livermore, one of Dezan Shira’s equity partners, recently participated in an Australian Chamber of Commerce (AustCham) event in Shanghai in which he presented on hiring and firing staff in China. The event, titled ‘Hired…and Fired! The Full Employment Cycle,’ explored how to find the best talent in China and how to navigate China’s complex labor regulations when hiring or terminating employees.

Adam specifically covered the legal issues employers need to consider when hiring new employees in China, as well as the key points they should pay attention to during the termination process.

“Preparation, preparation, preparation,” Adam stated. “You must put yourself into a strong position in the inevitable event that a labor dispute occurs at some point in the future. If you are not prepared for this, the results could be catastrophic for your business in China.”
