Can you share your working experience at Dezan Shira & Associates with us?

I joined Dezan Shira & Associates 5 years ago. Since then, I have seen the company expand internationally with HR and payroll clients coming from various foreign-invested entities, which range from having a few to over a thousand employees. We communicate with the clients´ overseas management teams in order to clarify their doubts with regards to issues such as compensation packages, employee benefits and individual income taxes. We have also seen an increase in the number of clients from India in recent years. I am very proud of my Dalian HR and payroll team, which has grown to be more proficient in coping with the demands of clients from multinational backgrounds.

  • How has your working experience at Dezan Shira & Associates impacted your professional growth?

As a consulting company, Dezan Shira & Associates has numerous clients from various backgrounds. This entails dealing with a mixture of personnel from different cultures and includes government officers, local and foreign employees, as well as managers based overseas. It is through efficient communication that we are able to overcome cultural barriers and execute our job effectively. For instance, we assisted a new client from India in setting up HR files and completing payroll in both Dalian and Guangzhou last year. Consequently, they were able to hire more than 200 employees over a period of 6 months and took over their own projects successfully. Overall, my experience has not only enhanced my professional knowledge but enriched my intercultural exposure as well.

  • What are your daily tasks and responsibilities at Dezan Shira & Associates?

My main daily responsibilities lie in the area of technical HR and payroll tasks. This includes communicating with our IT team to meet the needs of our clients in order to allow for the designing of payroll-related calculation in the system. I also train team members in utilizing the system and communicate with clients to answer any queries on local payroll policies. In addition, I supervise team members´ daily work and organize training as a group when the need arises. My team also manages recruitment for Dezan Shira. At times, I will travel around China to work on different projects for potential clients.
